on January 15, 2017 - 12:27pm

We're excited to announce some new events and programs to help you hone your race walk skills.

1.  Mileage Challenge.  Ashley is managing a mileage challenge, which is free to all current RWNW members.  Click on this link to sign up.  You'll need to choose:  Are you going for 365 miles (1 mile per day) or the 730 mile challenge (2 miles per day)?  Each month you'll log in and record the miles that you've completed at club walks, races, or on your own.  Yes, we're going with the honor system!  Prizes will be awarded at the end of the year, but watch for monthly incentive prizes, too!  There is no deadline to sign up, but we hope you'll join us today.

2. Fun Races and Events. Michelle is working on a fun list of races and events for all ages and fitness levels in 2017.  Mark you calendars.  On March 18th, we're planning a SHAM-walk 5k.  You'll get a finish time for your efforts, but prizes will be awarded from the finish time you pick out of the Leprechaun hat.  So technically, anyone can will that Pot of Chocolate Gold Coins, some Lucky Charms and other assorted prizes.  On April 8th, we'll host a two person team relay where each walker alternate 1k five times for a total of 10k.  This race will be open to experienced racewalkers and those still perfecting their technique.  On May 20th, we'll do our annual Predict-A-Race 5 miler at the Willamette Springwater Corridor.  On June 17th, plan your Father-Daughter 3k race.  We'll have a 10k for Adults.  Our last race of the year will be July 8th on the Tektronix Track for our first annual Dual Duel, covering 5 miles in two-person teams.
